Rosalía makes flamenco music that's steeped in tradition, but don't get it twisted— there's not a trace of nostalgia to be found in her forward-thinking melodies. Her last two singles "MALAMENTE" and "PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ" were massive summer heaters and now, just ahead of her new album El Mal Querer, she's back with another.
The new song, "DI MI NOMBRE," is intoxicating and gritty. Backed by not much more than a chorus of handclaps and a plinking piano, Rosalía whisks the deceptively simple production into a universe of her own with syrupy autotune and uncoy demands. This being a Rosalía single, she's also offered a fantastic video for the song, depicting a restless afternoon in her bedroom.
