Yung Lean’s “friday the 13th” video is an existential rollercoaster ride

Poison Ivy is out now.

November 14, 2018

Yung Lean's hot streak of great music videos continues with "friday the 13th," the latest visual from the Swedish rapper's new mixtape Poison Ivy. Lean's multifaceted visual aesthetic can jump between the perplexingly cinematic and the D.I.Y. flex, and "friday the 13th" is strongly in the former camp. The black-and-white video starts off like an Ingmar Bergman film with Lean dressed like a pilgrim talking about pyromania, then it jumps around different settings like a rollercoaster and painting on a cliff in a wheelchair with two bodyguards.
