Following a seventeen year hiatus, emo legends American Football returned in 2016 with their second album, American Football (LP2). Fans won’t have to wait nearly as long for the follow-up, as the Urbana, Illinois band announced today that their third album, American Football (LP3) is due out in March. A press release describes the venture as “contemplative, rich, expressive, yet with a queasy undercurrent.” It’ll feature Hayley Williams (Paramore), Rachel Goswell (Slowdive) and Elizabeth Powell (Land of Talk).
In anticipation, they’ve offered the lead single and album opener, “Sillhouette.” Familiar without submitting to nostalgia, it’s a fresh faced and dew-dropped introduction into a new chapter of American Football. Stream it below. American Football (LP3) is our March 22 via Polyvinyl.
