Black Panther wins SAG Awards prize ahead of Oscar ceremony

The Marvel movie took home the top film prize as well as being recognized for its stunts.

Black Panther took home the top film award at Sunday night's Screen Actors Guild awards. The ceremony is seen in Hollywood as one of the most accurate predictors for Oscar success with with best picture winner at the Oscars nearly always winning the same title at the SAG award.

The Black Panther cast, including Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Nyong'o, attended the Los Angeles ceremony on January 27. The movie beat A Star is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Rich Asians, and BlacKkKlansman to pick up outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. The Marvel movie also won Stunt ensemble in a motion picture.

Other film winners at the 2019 SAG Awards included Glenn Close (Female actor in a leading role), Rami Malek (Male actor in a leading role) Mahershala Ali (Male actor in a supporting role) and Emily Blunt (Female actor in a supporting role).

In the TV categories, Sandra Oh won for her role in Killing Eve, while Jason Bateman was recognized for his performance in Netflix's Ozark. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel won every category it was nominated in.
