YG says he’s postponed the release of a surprise album to mourn Nipsey Hussle
The rapper paid tribute to his fellow Los Angeles resident in a touching tribute.
It is testament to the impact Nipsey Hussle made during his life that it is hard to think of a major musician who has not paid tribute to him in the days following his death. On Wednesday YG followed the likes of Drake, Rihanna, and Beyonce in sharing his thoughts on the LA rapper, as well as revealing news of a new album.
YG was close with Nipsey Hussle, having appeared on his Grammy-nominated Victory Lap as well as recording "FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)" together in 2016.
“I took so long to post you kuz I Kant believe this shit, I don’t wanna believe this shit,” YG wrote on Instagram. “I’m not never accepting it. IDGAF what nobody say. It wasn’t yo time to go I’m lost homie.”
YG later tweeted that he was due to release a surprise album on April 12 but has pushed the release back to May in respect to Nipsey: “Now that we gotta deal with Big bro goin to heaven I will not drop the album this month.”
YG's most recent album Stay Dangerous was released in August 2018.
