Lil Nas X had quite a week, again

He’s got the number one song in the country, which is also projected to pass Drake’s megahit “God’s Plan’s” single week on-demand streams. Oh, and he’s landed on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart isn't the only achievement Lil Nas X has gotten to enjoy as of late.

The 19-year-old Atlanta rapper, who is still riding high off the immense success of his country-rap blending smash "Old Town Road" and its Billy Ray Cyrus remix, is also projected to eclipse the single week on-demand streaming numbers of Drake's Scorpion smash hit "God's Plan" by more than 12 million streams, as Hits Daily Double points out.

Upon learning of the potential accolade, Lil Nas hit Twitter to express his excitement.

And after being removed from Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart in March, "Old Town Road" finds its way onto the publication's Country Airplay chart this week, debuting at number 53.

Billboard reports that the track appears on the country airplay charts purely based on the number of spins it receives from reporting country radio stations, while the Hot Country Songs chart "requires Billboard to designate songs for inclusion based on genre fit."

Elsewhere across the internet this week, Atlanta rap titan (and country-rap star) Young Thug teased his own "Old Town Road" verse, bringing our demand for the return of yee-haw'ing Thugger to an ultimate high. The two also shared a very cute photo; check that out below.

However, all good things must sometimes be followed by some controversy. And for Lil Nas X, the tea this week is that he was reportedly behind a now-suspended Nicki Minaj stan account named @NasMaraj before his "Old Town" fame hit.

Lil Nas has since (kind of) denied the rumors in a recent NPR interview despite some evidence dug up by New York Magazine. Read his statement below.

It's like a big misunderstanding and it's not one that I even want to give the time, because I'm never putting someone as the face of my career. So I don't even speak on it. I just don't even acknowledge it, really. I know even more things are being made up and they're gonna be out there. It is disappointing when a big blog will post something without me talking about it but, I mean, it happens.
