Not even a new Taylor Swift song could knock Lil Nas X off his horse. Everyone's favorite viral cowboy has held onto the number one slot on this week's edition of the Billboard Hot 100. This is a massive achievement in itself, but considering the Herculean campaign behind Taylor Swift's "ME!" (which landed at this week's number two position), it feels especially significant.

"ME!," which will appear on Taylor Swift's as-yet-untitled seventh album, is her first lead single to not debut at number one since 2012's "We Are Never Getting Back Together." The song, which features vocals from Brendon Urie, was officially announced during the NFL Draft and was promptly used in a variety of cross-promotional material. Swift and Urie opened the Billboard Music Awards; the live recording was later released on Swift's online store.
