Kanye West is one of the guests on the second season of David Letterman’s Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, streaming next Friday. The Daily Beast has posted a review of the episode one week before its official release, praising Letterman's interviewing skill while calling Kanye's performance "one of the most coherent and engaging interviews [he] has ever given, even if it does go off the rails at times."

Naturally, it's Kanye West's support for Donald Trump — and West's unwillingness to take responsibility for what that entails — that sends things awry, according to The Daily Beast's review. After describing "his ‘fear’ as a man during the #MeToo movement,” West shifts the conversation to Trump. “This is like my thing with Trump — we don’t have to feel the same way, but we have the right to feel what we feel.” He goes on to claim that wearing a Make America Great Again hat doesn't constitute political support for Trump, but his attempt at breaking the stigma of supporting Trump.

Still, Letterman pushed Kanye on the implications of wearing the hat. "So if I see a person that I admire talking about [how] Donald Trump can think whatever he does,” Letterman says, “I wonder if those thoughts, indirectly, aren’t hurting people who are already being hurt.” Despite pointing to Republican-led voter suppression efforts as an example of Trump's politics, Kanye ignores Letterman and says Trump supporters are “treated like enemies of America because that’s what they felt.”

Letterman also reportedly asks who is responsible for most of the bullying in America at the present moment. Seems like an easy answer, but Kanye deflects, saying “Liberals bully people who are Trump supporters!” Alright, dude.

Kanye's feud with Drake is also briefly mentioned. While talking about lyrics, Kanye says “An artist which I will not mention, because I’m not allowed to mention him or any of his family members…” After being pushed by Letterman, West confirms he's talking about Drake. “He has this line that I love that says, ‘I told my story and made history’— like made his story and made history. That’s what we do, we tell our story and then people relate to that story.”

Kanye's image rehab tour has taken him to Coachella for a special performance of his Sunday Service series. Footage of a Sunday Service will appear in Kanye's episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.
