Brooklyn musician King Princess walks the pop music tightrope between the top 40 and the avant-garde. After her first song "1950" blew up online, she dropped an EP called Make My Bed, got signed to Mark Ronson's record label Zelig Records, and re-recorded a classic Fiona Apple song with the legend herself. So yeah, pay attention! Her new song "Cheap Queen" is taken from her upcoming debut album, and is a by-turns empowering and weary ballad to the self with a dusty vibe thanks to old samples and piano melodies reminiscent of Jon Brion circa Eternal Sunshine. Once again, King Princess nails her unique balancing act. Listen to "Cheap Queen" above.
