Madonna has shared the latest single from new album Madame X, due June 14. "Dark Ballet" is an epic ballad featuring an operatic piano part and lyrics about Supreme hoodies. Inspired by Joan of Arc, it comes accompanied by a video in which the historical figure is played by Mykki Blanco. Check that out above.
In a statement, Madonna paid tribute to Joan: “She fought the English and she won, still the French were not happy. Still they judged her. They said she was a man, they said she was a lesbian, they said she was a witch, and, in the end, they burned her at the stake, and she feared nothing. I admire that.”
"Dark Ballet" is the latest single from Madonna following previous Madame X releases “Medellín” (featuring Maluma), “I Rise,” “Crave” (with Swae Lee), and “Future,” featuring Quavo and Diplo.
Later this year she will embark on a world tour of theaters, playing intimate dates across Europe and North America.
