Lil Xelly connects with Yung Gleesh for “Walk Down”, an eerie ballad of a track which feels like a full circle moment for the DMV rap scene. Gleesh’s stop and go flow, punctuated with breakdowns into chant-like hooks has infiltrated the ears of Xelly’s generation of artists. To see both rappers in a video, is to see the influence Gleesh has had on the current crop of rising talent in the DMV underbelly. Flows tend to be relentless, grimy, and intoxicating in their ability to stretch out from a single set of bars. The two exchange verses on a chilling, villainous production from Spizzledoe and AR, without taking a second to catch their breaths. "Working with Gleesh was a cool experience," Xelly told The FADER over the phone. "He talked about things by giving pointers on how to move in the music scene. Just a positive guy in general." You can watch the video in full above.
