Vallejo rapper NyNy's NyFertiti, released in May, is a versatile and incredibly fun debut. There are songs that I can imagine going off at a sweaty party in someone's basement ("Bounce Dat"), songs about unapologetically bossing up ("Boss Shit"), and many songs about the ups and downs of young love. One of those is "What I Thought," a melodic track about having high expectations for a partner that fall way short.

In the video, which premieres on The FADER today, NyNy takes it back to high school, leaning against lockers and stealing looks at her soon-to-be ex-man in class. “I made this song for all the teenage girls, even grown women, who thought they had the one 'cause we all been there,” NyNy told The FADER over email.
