Puthers, the time is now: Charlie Puth's new single, "I Warned Myself," has arrived. The song, which a press release describes as the first of a "new era," finds Puth teaming with Benny Blanco for a sparse, rumbling production. Despite it's hyper-slick packaging, "I Warned Myself" is classic Puth in every regard: the "should've known better" lyrics, the undeniably sticky hook, and a touch of swooping acapella backing vocals. Even while choking himself (around the 1:35 mark), he sounds sensational.
"I Warned Myself" is Puth's first solo track since dropping Voicenotes last year, but he's stuck around since then — most recently collaborating with 5 Seconds of Summer on their "Easier" remix and co-writing Katy Perry's "Small Talk." The song arrives with a highly combustible music video. Check it out below, and stay tuned for more on the way from Charlie Puth.
