To coincide with the release of his album Jesus Is King, Kanye West announced an upcoming documentary that will follow it's release and screen exclusively at IMAX theaters worldwide. Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Film is set for an October 25th release and focuses on West's past Sunday Services in cities all across the country. Audiences at the recent listening parties for the album in Detroit and Chicago have already seen excerpts of the documentary.
“Filmed in the summer of 2019, Jesus Is King brings Kanye West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert,” IMAX said in a press release regarding the film. “This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with music from his new album Jesus Is King — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of IMAX.”
