Waxahatchee announces new album, shares single “Fire”

Waxahatchee has returned with the first single from her new record Saint Cloud.

January 22, 2020

Waxahatchee, aka musician and songwriter Katie Crutchfield, has announced Saint Cloud, the follow-up to her 2018 EP Great Thunder and her first full-length since 2017’s great Out In The Storm. Written in the wake of her decision to go sober, Saint Cloud was produced by Bon Iver collaborator Brad Cook and features Bonny Doon’s Bobby Colombo and Bill Lennox, as well as Josh Kaufman and Nick Kinsey, as her backing band.

Alongside the announcement, Crutchfield has released “Fire,” a beautifully understated step towards the country sound she’s been hinting at over the past couple of years. Describing the track as a “personal pep talk,” Crutchfield says it’s “about the internal dialogue of shame surrounding mistakes you've made in the past and how we spiral and beat ourselves up when we slip.” Saint Cloud is released March 27 on Merge, and will be sold on CD, standard LP, and gatefold deluxe LP, in addition to its availability on streaming services.
