Speaking about his approach to releasing new music in his 2019 cover story, Rema told The FADER that he only drops tracks when they matter. “My music might convey things about girls and beautiful ladies," he said. "But it’s still a statement about how talented you are, how diverse you are, and how far you’re gonna take the industry. I just speak when I feel like it’s time.”
Rema emerged in 2019 with breakout hits "Dumebi" and "Iron Man". He followed that up with two EPs, Freestyle and October's Bad Commando, which featured production from Honter, Altims, Oliver El Khatib, and 1mind.
