Omar Apollo's debut album is finally on its way, and while most details are still under wrap, the L.A.-via-Indiana artist is offering the first listen today with "Stayback." It's his downright funkiest work to date, a delirious stomper that finds Apollo combatting unrequited feelings with necessary boundaries: "If I could switch bodies you know I'd change that. But you could never love me so stay back." Queerbaiters everywhere, take note.
The track arrives with an Aidan Cullen-directed video, which pictures his dilemma in a neon-lit motel, straight out of some Harmony Korine daydream. Check it out above, and then head here to watch The FADER's short documentary on Apollo.
