Your finger hovers over the smartphone screen, an almost imperceptible current of static pulsing between your fingertip and the stark, red text that reads "Block Caller." This flashpoint of intense emotions and the memories it sparks is the driving force behind "Block Your Number," the new synth-pop song from New York artist Maude Latour. The music video for her anthemic track premieres today on The FADER; the sight of a pair of shoes triggers Maude to journey through different neighbourhoods, her apartment, and eventually, a living room for a performance with a band."

"I am so excited for this song to come out," Maude said in a statement. "It’s an explosion of a moment, of too many details and too many secrets. This song is so many of my influences combined exactly— it is Regina Spektor, 100 gecs, the Strokes, Lana, Lorde, Taylor all at once. The video I think captures all of this— yes it’s rock, but it’s vulnerable, it’s emotional, it’s lyrical, it’s pop, it’s electric. I’m petrified and exhilarated to put this song out in the world. It is all of my thoughts and it sucks you into the universe in my head that I’m gradually opening up for the world to see. I hope it gives you the freedom you’re craving, I pray that you listen to it many times in a row and hold on to every syllable. There is so much packed into this song, it’s all straight from my life, my heart, my existence. I have nothing other than this."
