Czarface, the hip-hop trip of 7L & Esoteric and Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck, will release a new collaborative album with MF DOOM on Friday. Super What? arrives after the first full-length Czarface/MF DOOM project Czarface Meets Metal Face, and was recorded prior to DOOM's death in 2020. Watch a trailer for the project above.
In an Instagram post announcing Super What?, Czarface spoke on how the project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the group's appreciation for MF DOOM. "Super What? was recorded and slated to drop in April of 2020. When COVID-19 struck and the world stopped, we chose to pull it, focus on family, and fine tune a few elements on it. What you'll be hearing was finalized, mixed & mastered in the summer of 2020, and it's our honor and privilege to share it with you Friday.
"I speak for everyone involved," Czarface continued, "when I say we were incredibly fortunate to have collaborated with DOOM... he was a one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-duplicated emcee, producer, and visionary. We wish peace and healing to his family, friends and everyone touched by the gifts he shared with the planet. MF DOOM FOREVER."
Super What? will be available on streaming platforms on May 7. Standard and special edition vinyl are available to pre-order at MF DOOM's webstore — According to the product listing, the album is split into two halves, the "DOOM Side" and the "Czar Side," and contains features from Run-DMC's DMC, Del The Funky Homosapien, and more.
