Meek Mill has gotten on gossip-rap's wrong side over the past year thanks to his unfortunate Clubhouse argument with DJ Akademiks and rumors of a feud with Rick Ross, the head of his label Maybach Music Group. As fickle as the internet can be, Meek has the kind of talent that can cut through almost any attempt to let the memes overshadow the music.
"War Stories," a new freestyle, follows this year's "Flamerz Flow," and 2020's Quarantine Pack EP. Whatever problems with writer's block the rapper was once struggling with aren't apparent — "War Crimes" is classic Meek with its emphatic and painful tales of the streets peppered with witty punch lines. The song's video shows Meek enjoying a fancy meal in between shots racing on quads, recording in the studio, and hanging out with Bobby Shmurda and Lil Uzi Vert. Watch it above via HotNewHipHop.
