Four members of Every Time I Die quit band after 24 years

The group, minus frontman Keith Buckley, have called it quits.

Hardcore band Every Time I Die have effectively split up after four members of the group announced their departure. The band, whose latest album Radical was released in 2021, had been together since 1998 until guitarists Jordan Buckley and Andy Williams, bassist Stephen Micciche and drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak shared a joint statement confirming that their last show with the band took place in December.

The statement claims that the former band members had attempted to come to an agreement on announcing the news of their departure from the group and frontman Keith Buckley "that outlined the truth.” However, they say they were “informed today of something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and controls a narrative to benefit one.”

They went on to claim that there had been “no direct communication” with Buckley, stating that “it’s either impossible for direct communication with him solely or we’ve been cut off to any and all communication by him himself.”

Keith Buckley, whose brother Jordan is among the bandmates to leave Every Time I Die, shared a legal notice in response to the statment. In it he is told by law firm Savur Law, hired by his former bandmates and dated December 20 2021, to get in touch so they can discuss “the business terms of an amicable separation between the parties.” Savur Law also requested Buckley “immediately cease and desist all usage of the Band name, logo, or other intellectual property until there is a formal signed separation agreement between the parties.”

The joint statement and Keith Buckley's response come after tensions within the band surfaced over a series of gigs in December last year. Buckley announced that he would not be performing with the band at shows including their own ‘Tis the Season festival, citing the need to protect his mental health. Buckley later claimed that the other members of the band were attempting to replace him as their vocalist. The group agreed to work together "privately" and Buckley performed at ‘Tis the Season on December 10-11, the latter proving to be their final Every Time I Die show together.

Every Time I Die formed in 1998 and released nine studio albums including 2001 debut Last Night in Town and 2009's New Junk Aesthetic, their first album on major label Epitaph.
