Earlier this month, Kate Bollinger announced that her third EP, Look at it in the Light, would arrive April 22 via Ghostly International. She also shared its lead single, "Who Am I But Someone," a pep talk to save for a rainy day of the mind. Today, she's shared the project's second offering, "Lady in the Darkest Hour."
The new track finds Bollinger playing to her strengths. "Who Am I" was a lovely foray into psychedelic art pop, but "Lady" lies more squarely in her laid back, folky wheelhouse. Her songwriting is as strong as ever, painting another sad but ultimately uplifting picture of a woman pushing through hardship with a brave face on. "Lady in the darkest hour / Smile all sweet like it isn't sour," she sings in the chorus, relying on her full yet whispery voice to lend these simple lyrics a poignancy they lack on paper.
