Viagra Boys suffered a major blow last year. In October, nine months after the release of their second studio LP Wellfare Jazz, guitarist Benjamin Vallé — who'd helped found the band in 2015 and left it in 2020 — died. Today, the Swedish band has shared "Ain't No Thief," their first release since Vallé's passing, along with news of their third album, Cave World, due out July 8 on Stockholm label YEAR0001.
Like much of VB's catalog, the new song revels in its own bad taste, playing on the trope of lewd, tattooed punk rockers to make sneakily fresh sounds. "I ain't no thief, we've just got the same stuff," frontman Sebastian Murphy snarls in the chorus, capping off freewheeling verses that double as improbable explanations for possessing stolen goods.
