April 28, 2022

Slane Irish Whiskey shares an exclusive playlist of emerging artists alongside the release of its limited-edition whiskey, Slane Special Edition. Both the bottle design and playlist pay homage to the 40 years of the legendary Slane Castle Concerts. What started in 1981 as a concert helmed by Lord Henry Conyngham on the front lawn of Slane castle has since grown into a festival that has hosted over 80,000 fans, and more than 40 years later, Lord Henry’s vision lives on through the Whiskey and having played host to some of the biggest and emerging music acts on the planet.

Featuring music from Detroit pop artist Siena Liggins, Brooklyn-based house duo Argonaut & Wasp, chill-wave dream-pop artist and producer BIIANCO, heavy metal and shoegaze-blending Nothing, and many more, the tracks run the genre gamut and aim to share the whiskey and the festival’s trailblazing spirit.

Meet the artists below and listen to the playlist here:

Action/Adventure
The 5-piece pop-punk band comprised solely of BIPOC are on a mission to create #PopPunkInColor, with a recent viral TikTok about their experiences helping to bring them to new audiences.

Argonaut & Wasp
Describing their sound as a blend of house music, funk, and the soul of New York City, the band breaks new ground as forward-thinking and retro all at once.

BIIANCO
As the self-proclaimed “Duke and Duchess of new generation of queer-femme, chill-wave dream-pop,” this artist and producer describes their music as “something to dance through trauma to.”

Caroline Kingsbury
This LA-based singer/producer blends catchy synths and 80s flair with earnest lyrics about family and death as a counterbalance.

Dresage
Layering lush synths and acoustic musings with beautiful lyrics and heartfelt messages, Dresage’s music deep dives into personal communication and authentic fan connections.

Elvis Depressedly
The Asheville duo’s acoustic indie-pop often leans into nostalgia with lyrics that run the topic gamut from self-reflection to being in the throes of romance.

Geographer
A descriptor like “soulful music from outer space” evokes images of synths and snares, but Geographer’s sound is a complex blend of analog, acoustic and electronic elements, fused to create new sounds and textures.

HOAX
With a lively cultural mix of Indian, Puerto Rican, Haitian, Ecuadorian, Irish, and Italian heritage among its members, their sound is as eclectic as it is political; with lyrics that tackle subjects like racism and the afterlife.

In Her Own Words
A love for Blink-182 and Bayside is at the core of this Southern California Pop-Punk quintet, who have a new album this summer, and an upcoming US tour with Tiny Moving Parts.

KR3TURE
This one-man band makes soulful, jazz-inspired, trip-hop country that’s as gritty as it is sexy. Playing a selection of instruments including the flute and banjo, it’s a genre-bending blend that sounds like much more than the sum of its parts.

Low Hum
Soulful shoegaze outfit Low Hum offers up laid-back and groovy bass lines, alongside complex synths and airy vocals.

Nothing
Pairing heavy metal with shoegaze is not an easy feat, but the Philadelphia band Nothing makes it work, with a bevy of distorted guitars, murky drums, honest lyrics, and angelic harmonies.

Oceanator
This Brooklyn-based artist’s mix of pop and grunge is just dark enough to be reminiscent of angsty 90s alt-rock but comes equipped with its own brand of buoyant optimism.

Prince Daddy & the Hyena
Described as “the soundtrack to a Disney film played by a punk rock band” by vocalist Kory Gregory, the Albany, NY band channels everyone from Green Day to The Strokes with their honest, and often indulgent lyrics.

Rock Eupora
The Mississippi-raised, Nashville-based artist known to make a unique blend of gritty, self-produced rock and shimmering pop.

Siena Liggins
This Detroit-based pop artist and songwriter counts TLC, Usher and Britney Spears among her biggest inspirations. With catchy hooks and playful lyrics, her music oozes cool.

The Sonder Bombs
Making a collection of dreamy love songs with complex guitar riffs and an old-school flair, it’s hard to miss their early 2000s influences. Still, the band creates something fresh and vulnerable

Tiny Deaths
A queen of moody, dream-filled pop, Tiny Deaths describes her music as a “nostalgic trip down memory lane,” complete with ethereal and celestial vibes.

TOMI
Since becoming a solo artist in 2017 after leaving the duo XNY, TOMI’s lilting falsetto is the perfect match for the bouncy funk production it's often paired with.

Worriers
This Brookln-based band, fronted by non-binary singer-songwriter Lauren Denitzio, pair openhearted lyrics about love, hope, and survival with melodic punk, meant to both support and subvert the genre’s rebellious and angsty expectations.
