Earlier this month Justin Bieber revealed that he had developed Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that can cause temporary facial paralysis. As a result he pulled a couple of dates on the North America leg of his Justice world tour. He has subsequently postponed the full run of dates in the U.S. as he continues to recover and prepare for upcoming shows in Europe which, at the time of writing, are still due to go ahead as planned in late July.
“In light of Justin’s ongoing recovery, the remaining US Justice Tour shows scheduled for June and early July will be postponed,” a Live Nation spokesperson said in a statement. “Justin continues to receive the best medical care possible, is upbeat about his recovery, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road and performing for his fans overseas later this summer.” Refunds are available at point of purchase with rescheduled dates expected to be announced soon.
Bieber first spoke about his experience with Ramsay Hunt syndrome in an Instagram video posted on June 11. “As you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves,” he said. “As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”
