“big daddy ya” is a slick self-acceptance anthem set to a an ultra-smooth instrumental, and the new video projects a similar cool confidence. Bey switches outfits across seamless cuts as effortlessly as she switches flows, schooling us on the importance of being comfortable in our own skin. In a statement shared with The FADER, however, she says her quest for total inner peace is far from complete.

“We all have our unique balance of feminine and masculine energy, and sometimes it can be an intense journey finding your relationship to that — one that isn’t performative,” she writes. “This video is me on that journey in a way. But I’m still very much figuring it out.”
