Soon after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Mercury Prize announced that tonight's ceremony will be postponed. The Prize is awarded annually to the best British or Irish album released over the past year.
"Tonight’s Mercury Prize event has been postponed at this time of great national sorrow," the organization announced on Twitter. "We know everyone involved in the Mercury Prize will understand. Our thoughts and condolences are with The Royal Family at this very difficult time." A rescheduled date for the ceremony will be announced "as soon as we are able," the Prize said.
