The Weeknd is a known cinephile, he made a cameo in Uncut Gems and has his own HBO series, The Idol, in the pipeline. Naturally, then, he is on board with the long-awaited new Avatar movie. On Sunday he posted a mysterious teaser on social media that features new music alongside a blue "A" with a bird in the center and the date "12.16.22." That's the same date Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters.

In addition to the teaser clip, the Weeknd retweeted a post from the official Avatar movie Twitter account reading: “#AvatarTheWayOfWater x @theWeeknd.” Also, Avatar producer Jon Landau shared a photo welcoming him to “the Avatar family.” Basically, you can expect to hear the Na'vi tribe bumping some Abel Tesfaye when the movie opens in a couple of weeks time.
The Weeknd’s latest album, Dawn FM, arrived earlier this year. Last month he announced plans for an extensive European and Latin America tour for summer 2023.
Avatar: The Way of Water is director James Cameron's sequel to the 2009 original, one of the biggest-grossing movies off all-time. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet all feature in the cast.
