Four people are in a critical condition with four more injured following a crush at an Asake concert in London last night. The Nigerian afrobeats artist was performing the third of three sold-out shows at O2 Academy Brixton when the incident took place. The live show was canceled as a result of the crowd trouble.

Footage from outside the venue showing large crowds awaiting entry has been shared widely on social media. Speaking from the stage after police told him to stop performing, Asake told fans: “They said outside is fucked up already. So we have to end the show. I don’t know why. It’s not me.”

Another man then spoke from the stage, saying. “We have stopped the show, because they breached the door. You have got 3,000 people have broken the door outside and because of security, police have asked us to close the show. We apologise to you. This is nothing to do with us."
