Nicki Minaj has dropped her first single of 2023, "Red Ruby Da Sleeze." The typically cocksure track samples Lumidee‘s 2003 hit “Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh).” Check it out below.
"Red Ruby Da Sleeze" marks Minaj's first solo single since 2022’s “Super Freaky Girl,” which became her first solo No.1 single. It also made history as the first No. 1 debut for a hip-hop song by a female artist with no accompanying acts since Lauryn Hill released “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
Since sharing "Super Freaky Girl" in August of last year Minaj has appeared on songs with Blue ("Love In The Way"), Youngboy Never Broke Again ("I Admit"), and Maluma. The latter was "Tukoh Taka," a controversial tie-in with the 2022 FIFA World Cup, held for the first time in Qatar.
