Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama has joined Bronx emcee Sha EK for a remix of the latter artist’s “Never Want To Be Them.” The original song — a cut from Sha’s 2022 LP, Face of the What — is an unadulterated dose of New York drill built an a positively evil-sounding beat by 083Chee. And Zay’s quick cameo on “Never Want To Be Them Pt. 2” adds an appreciably looser element to the tightly wound track.
The song was released in collaboration with Defiant Presents (a supergroup we’re told we’ll get more info on soon), alongside a lighthearted Jersey club cut called “Mr. D.C.T.” from Newark rapper/producer duo Bandmanrill and MCVERTT, centering a conspicuous sample of Crystal Waters’ house classic “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless).” Watch the lyric video for “Never Want To Be Them Pt. 2” and the music video for “Mr. D.C.T.” below.
