California rapper and former SOB x RBE member Lul G has pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and received a 21-year sentence in prison, the East Bay Times reports. Born George Harris, the 21-year-old was arrested in 2019 and charged with first-degree murder of a Vallejo man. The plea deal prevents Lul G from serving a potential maximum sentence of 50 years if found guilty of the original charge.

Lul G had been on probation since the age of 17 on armed robbery and gun charges. He discussed his experiences with the probation system during his career’s peak for The FADER’s SOB x RBE 2018 cover story. “They’ve been making it difficult,” he said. “Like, it’ll be big opportunity that none of us will probably ever see again in our lives and they’ll just tell me, ’No.’ Straight up. It’s like, basically, y’all want me to lose my career, so I have nothing, so I’m forced to do stuff that’ll have me stuck in this system.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available
