Police investigating the 2002 death of Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay have indicted a third man in connection with the shooting, the New York Times reports.

49-year-old Jay Bryant was charged by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn with murder while engaged in drug trafficking, as well as other trafficking-related charges. Prosecutors allege Bryant was seen entering the Jamaica, Queens recording studio where Jay was shot and killed over two decades ago and that clothing with his DNA was found at the scene. He denies the charges. It is believed that Bryant was already in custody awaiting trial on a separate drug-related indictment.

In 2020 two men, Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington, were arrested in connection with the killing. Both men have pleaded not guilty and are due to stand trial from January of next year. In sworn statement from 2002, Washington reportedly called Jam Master Jay "a childhood friend" and claimed to have been harassed by investigators.
