On Saturday night in Sydney, Australia, Ethel Cain collapsed while performing “A House in Nebraska.” It was the third song of her second set at the Sydney Opera House’s VIVID Live festival, and she was forced to end the show early, with security helping her off of the stage. Fans voiced their concern and disappointment online following the fall and subsequent cancellation, but Cain was back Sunday to ease their anxieties with an explanation and apology posted to her instagram story.

“Hi everyone, so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show last night but all this touring and traveling has finally caught up with me,” she wrote. “I am feeling better today though and am excited for the show tonight!! I promise I will make it up to those of you from last night whenever I can. Thank you much Sydney, love u all.” She then returned to the Sydney Opera House stage Sunday night, without incident. The FADER has reached out to her team for further comment.

Cain has been touring consistently behind her 2022 debut LP Preacher’s Daugher, an album she discussed with Salvatore Maicki on the 49th episode of The FADER Interview. After five more shows in Sydney this week, she’ll kick off a busy festival season later this month in Northern Europe. View her full summer schedule below.
