Mitski has announced the title of her next album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. The news was revealed to subscribers of Mitski's newsletter in a voice note, which was subsequently shared via fans on social media. In the same note she states that a single from the album will be released on Wednesday, July 26.

“Hi, this is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out,” Mitski says in the voice note. “It’s called The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, and its first single is coming out on Wednesday.” Find Mitski’s message below.

The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, which has no confirmed release date at the time of writing, will be the follow-up to 2022 album Laurel Hell. Earlier this year Mitski picked up an Oscar nomination for her work alongside Son Lux and David Byrne on "Everything Everywhere All At Once," as heard in the Best Picture-winner of the same name.
