When The Knife split up in 2014, it was immediately clear that few acts were capable of matching the revolutionary electronic pop music made by Karin and Olof Dreijer. Karin stepped up with Fever Ray, their solo project, while Olof retreated from the spotlight to teach music production and produce for other artists. His profile increased significantly in 2023 with co-production on Fever Ray's 2023 album Radical Romantics, and Souvenir, a collaborative album with Mt. Sims.

Today, Olof continues his comeback with a new three-track release called Rosa Rugosa, his first new dance music EP in a decade. Released today on Hessle Audio, the songs harken back to Olof's days in the Knife without sounding like a retread — it helps that his old band still sounds ahead of its time, but the new songs gather pop melodies from around the world in a manner that feels like a successor to 2006's Silent Shout.

"I hope these tracks show how much fun I’ve had making them," Olof writes in a press statement. "They capture a joyous part of my life coming back and making my own music again. I wanted to make something warm, organic, emotional, and groovy in a way that excites me." says Olof.
