Tory Lanez was admitted to a hospital after being stabbed in prison, the New York Times reports. Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He was attacked by another prisoner on Monday morning according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Lanez is serving time at a prison in Tehachapi, near Bakersfield, where the attack took place. The 32-year-old was transported to a medical facility outside the prison. No further details have been released by authorities since news of the attack was first made public.
A statement posted on Lanez's Instagram account on Monday claimed the musician had been stabbed 14 times in an attack that left him with two punctured lungs, resulting in him requiring a breathing apparatus. The update stated that Lanez is breathing on his own “despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits.”
Lanez was sentenced to a 10 year prison sentence in August 2023 after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in a 2020 incident. He was convicted on three felony counts, including assault with a semiautomatic handgun. He is eligible for parole in 2029.
Last year, Megan Thee Stallion requested a restraining order against Lanez and accused him of waging a “campaign of harassment” against her from prison. She alleged that he, among other charges, was employing a team of bloggers as part of a "campaign of harassment." A judge granted a restraining order against Lanez that is due to expire in 2030
