Back in May, Spike Lee shared the first teaser for Highest 2 Lowest, the N.Y.C. auteur's new movie. His fifth full-length collaboration with Denzel Washington is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1963 thriller High & Low, and it premiered out of competition at Cannes in May to positive reviews. Before the film arrives in theaters on August 5 (it'll begin streaming on Apple TV+ the following month, September 5), Lee's released a longer trailer that gives us a better look at Highest 2 Lowest.
Washington stars as David King, a record company CEO attempting to close the sale of his label when his son is abducted. The perp is none other than A$AP Rocky, billed in this picture as "Yung Felon," though in the trailer we mostly just hear his threats over the phone to Washington's character. Ilfenesh Hadera co-stars as Washington's wife Pam, and Jeffrey Wright plays his chauffeur; Ice Spice is also slated to appear in an as-yet unidentified role. Maybe herself?
