Iceage is thawing.
The Danish punk band has announced their sixth studio album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, out May 29.
Alongside the announcement, they shared a new song, the revved up album opener "Ember" which features a recognizable deadpan rock monologue from lead vocalist Elias Rønnenfelt. Its central refrain, "I love you in an ominous way," encapsulates the band's approach to ideas and feelings, blending tenderness with edge.
The forthcoming album is set to be a stride forward for the quintet comprised of Rønnenfelt, guitarist Johan Suurballe Wieth, drummer Dan Kjær Nielsen, guitarist Casper Morilla Fernandez, and bassist Jakob Tvilling Pless. After 18 years together and five studio albums, Iceage has notched a unique zone in indie rock as purveyors of punk that melds a literary sensibility with undeniable energy.
Rønnenfelt has earned new fans in recent years for his prolific solo project and collaborations with Dean Blunt. He's released three full length albums since 2024: 2024's Heavy Glory, and 2025's lucre (with Dean Blunt) and Speak Daggers.
