Isabella Lovestory fans are having a very good week. First she popped up on Miami duo B0YG1RL’s excellent new EP EXIT 2B, turning up over a frantic reggaeton instrumental on “Soleil.” Now she’s dropped “Gorgeous (Remix)” with a little help from fall tour opener Cece Natalie and Korean hyperpop sensation The Deep.

Produced by frequent collaborator Chicken (“No Hook,” “Girls Gone Wild,” and “Numb” by JT, among others), the original version of “Gorgeous” has a slinky, Y2K-era R&B appeal. The remix keeps Lovestory’s undulating, unabashed hook intact (“You don’t have to tell me that I’m gorgeous / I already know that it’s so obvioussss”), but the pulsing kickdrums and a fat new synthline push the song into higher gear, even if the BPM remains the same.

The Deep and Cece Natalie might come from different parts of the world than Lovestory, but all three are dynamic, eclectic popstars with their own vision for where the genre might go. So even though their individual music can be wildly distinct on paper, the trio sound totally simpatico on “Gorgeous (Remix),” swaggering through verses in Korean, Spanish, and English. I’m waiting for my little sister to translate The Deep’s verse for me, but I still love how her stop-start flow hopscotches through the tiniest gaps in Chicken’s instrumental. And Cece is on some laugh-out-loud funny shit, telling would-be bookers they simply can’t afford her: “that’s a rave in LA, I only do / real shows.” No matter your hometown, “Gorgeous (Remix)” is a banger in every language.
