At long last, beabadoobee is back.
The London-raised "Beaches" singer has announced her new album, Pylon, out September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope and a new major tour, kicking off in October.
Laus is kicking off the new era with the release of a single "Sun Has Set” — alongside an accompanying video direct4ed by longtime visual collaborator Jake Erland. The song features a kinetic, hardened energy, with propulsive, distorted guitar and lives drums, and shows Laus singing with a palpable rage — a rarity for the often cool-toned singer. "When I say we'll never be friends / I mean we'll never pretend / Fuck that you can never run back to me now," she sings on the song's driving chorus. The video simiarly takes on a riotous energy, with Laus causing mayhem in a motel, car, and a golden-lit field.
Pylon — named after the ubiquitous metal structures which carry power lines — promises a dual meaning for the coming album; the title speaks to the new project's electric, sharper-edged sound, which finds beabadoobee (Beatrice Laus) leaning further into the distorted rock terrain she's explored on albums like 2023's This Is How Tomorrow Moves and 2021's Our Extended Play. It also serves as a thematic metaphor for the themes of anxiety and mundanity that preoccupy Laus as she delves into her mid-20s.

Excitingly, Pylon features longtime indie stalwarts like Hayley Williams, TURNSTILE's Brendan Yates, Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, and Title Fight’s Shane Moran, as well as production work from longtime friends and collaborators The 1975's Matty Healy and George Daniel.
beabdoobee will be playing the new record on her forthcoming fall tour, also announced today. The Powerline Tour, which will take place in North America, the UK, and Europe will feature her first arena shows, with key stops at Madison Square Garden, The Kia Forum, and The O2. Laus will recieve support from Gen Z San Francisco shoegaze band, Wisp, as well as rock songstress Violet Grohl.
