Brooklyn-via-Miami producer Nick León and Colombian singer-producer Ela Minus have teamed up for a new single “espiral.” Minus croons over a spare, undulating electronic beat on the song, the first offering from the duo’s upcoming EP qué les pasó a mis amigos?.
In an emailed statement, Minus and León said that they initially connected in Mexico City in 2024, ahead of the release of their respective albums DÍA and A Tropical Entry. Though they never quite planned to collaborate, the pair bonded over their similar artistic sensibilities and being at a similar point in their distinct careers.
The three tracks on qué les pasó a mis amigos? percolated over the years before being finalized in 2026 in Los Angeles. León and Minus collaborated on “Ghost Orchid” and a remix of “QQQQ” in the interim, and promise not only remixes of their upcoming EP, but more collaborative music on the way after the release as well.
qué les pasó a mis amigos? is set for a streaming release on August 7, with a vinyl edition planned for November 20. That vinyl will include remixes by Loidis, Guedra Guedra, and Brenda.
Minus and León will have their debut joint performance on September 3 at ICA London as part of a label showcase alongside Guedra Guedra as well as Alexis Taylor & Mike Simonetti. Those tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. London time — fans can purchase tickets here.
