The artist formerly known as Bearface is now Ciarán and is back with a gorgeous new song, "K-Bar" alongside a moody new video.
Initially meeting the world as part of era-defining hip-hop boyband, BROCKHAMPTON, Ciarán (then Bearface) became an early fan favorite as the group's in-house crooner, closing their famous SATURATION trilogy with tracks "WASTE," "SUMMER," and "TEAM."
"K-bar" is his first release since BROCKHAMPTON's disbandment in 2022. After teasing his return via a mysterious website, fans were quick to express excitement and speculate about his new music.
"I really and truly appreciate every single person who has remained excited at even the prospect of me coming back and releasing something," shares Ciarán through a press release. "It's been an extensive and intentional process and I hope you can enjoy the music (and the process of that which it comes) with an open heart and I hope it can become something that you could see yourself living with for a long while."
Ciarán has thus far announced one live show on August 6 in New York City that sold out almost immediately upon announcement.
The new song features dexterous, falsetto vocals, similar to his Bearface-era, but with a soft and understated production style, stacked harmonies, and expressive arrangements reminiscent of Gabriel Jacoby, Dijon, or D'angelo. Overall, it marks the exciting start in a new era for the long-quiet singer.
