Goldie shares Notting Hill Carnival video for Break’s “Jungle Daze” remix
The first “Jungle Daze” video was a history lesson. This one is a street party.
Goldie has released the official video for Break's remix of his single "Jungle Daze," out now via London Records. Shot on a vintage camcorder at this year's Notting Hill Carnival, the clip is the latest in a run of releases ahead of his orchestral Dare To Dream shows at London's Royal Festival Hall on November 14.
"I really had FOMO missing this year's Carnival, especially as it was the 60th anniversary," he said in a statement. "For me, it's multiculturalism in this country personified. It's such a special celebration of British Black culture, community and creativity."
The video picks up where the original "Jungle Daze" clip left off. That one traced the early years of jungle and drum & bass; this one stays in the present, on the street, inside the sound system culture that fed both genres.
Break's version keeps Natalie Williams' vocal at the front for the opening stretch, then drops into a heavier bassline and busier, grittier drums than the original. It is the darker of the two mixes.
