After a glorious New York City summer, Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale and Milk Makeup are continuing the city’s celebration with a new short film honoring the creativity and singularity of NYC titled New York Found Me.
Teasdale — who is the new face of Milk Makeup — stars in the campaign and short film, which was guided by Milk Makeup’s Global Artistic Director Frank B and Marie Noorbergen, the brand’s Creative Director. The team behind the campaign also includes director Arnaud Uyttenhov, choreographer Sergio Reis, and Sarah Richardson as stylist. In the film, premiered widely on September 14, Teasdale delivers a poetic monologue about the ways that the City can shape one’s artistry and identity; “People become memories. Places become feelings and you carry them with you,” she says.
The film features a real cast of New York City artists who were selected by the brand after an open casting call brought more than 1,000 people to Milk’s SoHo office in July. These unique local artists can be seen throughout New York Found Me, their bohemian garb and bold make-up looks like a reflection of New York City’s diverse mosaic.
The campaign and short film comes amidst Milk Studio’s 30th anniversary, when the premier photo studio helped define creativity in New York City. 10 years ago, Milk Makeup launched, infusing Milk’s creative spirit into the beauty space.
To celebrate the launch and the dual anniversaries, Milk threw a party at the iconic NYC music venue, Marquee. Co-hosted by Beyond Noise, the party featured DJ sets by Teasdale herself and The Dare. The event also saw a very NYC cast of characters including nightlife legend Susanne Bartsch, who worked door, Real Housewives of New York’s Jessel Tank and Sai Da Silva, and fashion heiress Ally Hilfiger.
