Because why should we believe that this is a new studio recording by the long absent D’Angelo when it could just as easily be the new studio recording by long absent Bilal or Cody Chesnutt or random other dude who never came up in the first place? Seems to be the new thing to do these days. It’ll be cool if it is, but even cooler if it’s not. We’d prefer to hear new D’Angelo in its final form and use it to make babies.

Hey,
can we agree to never refer to Cody Chesnutt negatively in a blog post again?
thanks,
Lovin’ good in leather (Since…whenever that song came out)
How was he referred to negatively?
Because it sounds nowhere near Bilal or definately Cody (?!).
I love Cody, but he is NOWHERE near D’Angelo and Bilal vocal-wise.
This certainly is D’angelo (ask the folks who’ve been in studio with him), altough it is not finished yet.

No one is comparing their voices, good lord. I don’t even know how you could with this song. Still, I don’t see how Cody or Bilal or D’Angelo are insulted in this post. The point was, if you actually listened to the song, the vocals were so weird and unrecognizable that it could be any of those three, all of whom are former FADER featured artists (two of them on the cover) or none of them. The point, as indicated by the title, was to illustrate that the three of them have been out of the spotlight, at least as far as releasing albums, for roughly the same amount of time and that fans of their music should be excited any time anything even remotely associated with them comes out, even if it’s impossible to authenticate.
