Ryan McGinley Makes Video For Opening Ceremony, Gives Levi’s Cords Wings

February 10, 2010

The video Ryan McGinley made for Opening Ceremony's collection of Levi's cords is literally up in the air. If you caught a glimpse of the ethereal photo series McGinley shot for the New York Times Magazine recently, which captured Winter Olympians in mid-flight draped in Rodarte, then you'll appreciate the gorgeous aerial leitmotif. The soundtrack for the new video is Pictureplane's "Goth Star," the models are wearing cords and/or are shirtless, and the clouds are so fluffy and perfect they might have been painted by Michelangelo—peep the more obvious touchy-feely Sistine Chapel references between outfit changes. The only thing that's missing here is a flying cameo from Mister Mort in head-to-toe cord.
