This totally could have been a disaster: a bunch of white dudes get on stage to unironically pay tribute to the kind of hyper-sleazy r&b that warrants sweaty sax solos and neon-blue sport jackets to a massive crowd that could potentially view it as a complete joke. But it worked! Prince showed up for their live show, looking weird enough that we pent a solid hour being like, That's not Prince! Oh wait yeah it is! You know, mental arguments with ourselves. ALL IN A DAY'S WORK AT FADER HQ. Anyway, yeah, Prince showed up. That's fucking awesome. But more importantly, it's totally cool that this song and this Gayngs record exists. Can't say in all honesty that we've been throwing it on the hi-fi every day or anything, but it's nice to know that we finally have something contemporary to listen to while thinking about Patrick Nagel paintings.
