Why Did Frank Ocean Turn Down Work With Kanye West?

Odd Future member and Def Jam-signee Frank Ocean is no stranger to the Roc—he penned “I Miss You” for Beyonce’s 4 and was featured on two tracks on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne. But when it comes to his own currently untitled full-length, Ocean is not interested in collaborating with West. He recently told BBC Radio One’s Zane Lowe,

I said, ‘As much as I want to work with you… I kind of want to do this without you. I kind of want this to be done without you. I kind of want to do it on my own. The record is written, we’re just trying to tie up all the production… Get everything sonically pleasing to me.

I find that very respectful. Not a lot of artists would say that to Kanye. Another artist in the game I like right now is CJ Hilton, he has a hot single “So Fresh”, here’s a behind-the-scenes video of him making the music video http://vevo.ly/rMDhlz

That’s dope he wants to do his own thing; too many artist want to rely on a feature from someone else to big them up.
