With a disembodied vocal sample and some frequency-filling synthesizers courtesy producer Tryfe, Young Fame‘s “Make It Work” seems like the kind of track destined to make more than a few playlists. Throw on an inspired 2 Chainz guest verse, replete with eyeroll-inducing humor—pinky ring so big you can see it on a blind date—and you have a good shot at a hit. Fame, a rapper from Tacoma, Washington, seems to have come out of nowhere. His single from last year, “Imma Star,” has a scant 5,000 YouTube views, but if anything should propel him to center stage, it’s “Make It Work.”
